The Youth Atlantic Treaty Association of Norway welcomes you to attend the 13th edition of the annual Nordic Security Conference (NorSec), taking place in Oslo on 7-8 April. This year’s topic will be “China’s emergence as a superpower, and the implications for European security cooperation”. Over the weekend, participants will have the opportunity to learn from and interact with leading national and international experts, engage in lively discussions with fellow students and young professionals, and network with like-minded people with various backgrounds and nationalities.
Program
Saturday 7 April will consist of a lecture series, giving you insight into China’s rise as a superpower and increasing geopolitical influence. The lectures will address implications for NATO and the EU, as well as existing dependencies and opportunities for cooperation. In addition to the lectures we will arrange a panel discussion and breakaway sessions with political, economical or defense-related focus to facilitate dialogue and active involvement of all participants. For those participating on Sunday, the breakaway sessions will also serve as preparation for the workshop.
After the lecture series, international participants will be invited to take part in a guided cultural experience in Oslo and a banquet dinner along with YATA Norway’s board members as well as selected lecturers.
Sunday 8 April will be an interactive day consisting of a workshop and a crisis simulation. During the workshop, participants will be asked to form short oral and written presentations based on the lecture series they attended on Saturday. The crisis simulation is conducted by one of our experienced partners in this field and will lead the participants into a challenging environment where they will be able to test their crisis management abilities.
