Five years have passed since the adoption of the State Strategy on Development of Education in Azerbaijan (2013). It is pertinent and timely for all key players involved in the education sphere to reflect on the status –quo of the Strategy implementation by questioning where we have come today, what we need to improve or change, and in which directions we should move on to ensure the quality of education. The State strategy implementation requires us as scholars and practitioners to expand our awareness of the voices, actors and knowledge producers that have been involved in the educational research development process. Thus, ADA University is delighted to invite researchers and policymakers in the field of education to submit their research papers to be presented at the Education 2018 Conference. The Conference aims at bringing together scholars, policymakers, independent researchers, educational practitioners, students and other stakeholders interested in national and international education development to present research analyzing the implementation of state strategies for education development around the world and in Azerbaijan to reflect on best practices, discuss future steps and suggest policy recommendations towards the innovative modification to the education system.
The Conference will focus the conversation on analysis of knowledge produced at the national level, with a view toward exploring best practices around the world and to re-envision possibilities for cooperation and mutual support in advancing education research and practice. ADA University encourages proposals on the topics that are in line with the key strategic directions pointed out in the State Strategy:
- Creation of a competency-based, person-oriented content of education, covering all stages of education, including pre-school, general, initial VET, specialized -secondary and higher education (Strand 1);
- Modernization of human resources in the education sector with the focus on the improvement of pre-service and in-service teacher training models and on the development of inclusive, interactive training methodology (Strand 2);
- Establishment of result-oriented, transparent and effective management schemes, as well as a new information and reporting system for ensuring and managing quality of education (Strand 3);
- Establishment of education infrastructure, conducive for lifelong education (Strand 4);
- Creation of an economically sustainable financing model of the education system, consistent with the standards of leading education systems of the world (Strand 5).
The Conference is intended to be broad encompassing panel discussions facilitated by keynote speakers, presentations of research papers and poster sessions that build on the expansion of the parameters of knowledge production and educational practice in the process of national and international education development. Additionally, a rich post-conference events agenda, Share Shops sessions aimed at demonstrating innovative, successful teaching practices are planned. The detailed information on the registration and participation in Share Shops will be provided later in the ADA University Conference webpage.
