Washington DC – Conflict and Migration Research Internship
DATES OF INTERNSHIP: September – December 2017 (flexible)
LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP: 4 months (flexible) 15-20 hours/week
IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree program focused on international development, conflict & peacebuilding or other related fields
- Experience designing and conducting research in international development related fields
- Experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis
LIVING CONDITIONS: This internship will be based in Washington, DC. The intern will assume all responsibilities with his/her living situation.
Washington DC – Addressing Root Causes of Conflict Internship
DATES OF INTERNSHIP: September – December, 2017 (flexible)
LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP: 3-4 months (flexible)
IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate degree, complete or in progress, in conflict management or other relevant social science discipline
- Familiarity with Getting to Yes and interest-based negotiation
- Video editing skills
- Familiarity with the peacebuilding field and understanding of how conflicts affects and is affected by other systems (e.g., ecological, economic, socio-cultural)
- Self-motivated and able to work without close supervision

Portland/Washington DC – South and East Asia Communications Internship – with travel to Indonesia and Nepal (FUNDED)
INTERN WORKSITE LOCATION: Portland HQ or Washington DC HQ- with travel to Jakarta, Indonesia (with possible field travel) and Kathmandu, Nepal (with possible field travel)
LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP: 3 months (approximately 1 month in each country)

For the duration of this internship assignment the intern will receive:
- Airplane tickets to/from Nepal and Indonesia (arranged by Atlas Travel)
- Visa fees
- Modest housing when in Nepal and Indonesia
- ISOS Med-Evac coverage
- In-country travel related to this internship
- Work station in Mercy Corps’ office with system access
IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent writing and communication skills; a writing/editing test will be required as part of interview process
- Excellent organizational abilities
- Detail-oriented
- Fluency in English required
- Experience working in international contexts preferred
